Le Devin du Village was directed by Wesley Diener and staged in the spring of 2018 under the UVA Department of Music.

This short French opera was written by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the 18th century. For this particular staging, the costumes were an inspired mix of both modern and traditional 18th century garb. In particular, the male character’s aesthetic could be described as a “frat boy meets the 18th century” look.
